Art Lima is the owner of Air-Art Custom Paint and Airbrushing. He has been drawing, painting and creating works for art for over 35 years. Art is a committed family man who has been blessed with a fabulous and supportive wife, two wonderful children and several lovable pets. Art's family is the most important thing in his life.
Although he spent most of his adult life in the IT field as Network Specialist building and supporting mid to large computer networks for various corporations, his passion has always been art. Creating original pieces with paint, wood, metal and various other materials always gave Art a feeling of accomplishment and individuality unmatched by any other process. Therefore in July of 2001, Art decided to start his custom paint and airbrushing business and put all his efforts into his art
Art relishes the challenge of taking his clients ideas and dreams and converting them into living works of art, his primary goal is to exceed each client's expectations and have them leave not only impressed, but excited about their custom piece of artwork.
Although Art does not possess a degree in art, he has had the natural ability to draw since childhood and has taken several art classes over the years. Art's belief is that the learning process is a life long journey and that, regardless of your chosen field, the one constant is the need to continue learning. A wander through some of the work in our galleries section shows that, as a custom painter and airbrush artist, Art's work already compares and competes with much more accomplished custom paint artists in his field.
Along with his painting and design skills, Art has been cabinet making and crafting in wood for more than 15 years and has had a talent and a love for metal fabrication since his high school days. Some of Art's other interests include custom and classic cars, trucks and motorcycles. The current stable of vehicles include a 1966 Valiant 2 door hardtop and an 1966 Chevy C10 half ton done in the flat black, flames and baby moons. The current work in progress is a 1952 GMC half ton that's almost ready to mate with a mid 80's Chevy S10 chassis. Waiting in the wings is a 53 Pontiac Sedan delivery. Currently there are two Harleys in the family, Art's FLHT /bagger that he has done extensive metal fabrication to and has recently repainted with a custom multi-color paint scheme which includes drop shadowed hot rod flames and pin striping. Art's wife Kelly rides her own 1200 Sportster that also is currently sporting a custom ghost tribal kandy paint job which Art did a couple years ago. The Sporty will undergo another makeover this off season and prior to the bike show circuit. Art has been metal fabricating and doing bodywork and paint as a hobby for over 20 years and he knows what your custom ride means to you, he will treat it with the care and respect that you would.
Another of Art's passions is hockey, he's played goal for many years and has been custom painting masks for himself and friends for over thirty years. Art understands a goaltenders need to express themselves and separate themselves from the other players and fellow goaltenders. Obviously the most effective way for a goalie to express their individualism and character is through their own custom painted mask. Art has enjoyed painting masks since childhood and is now an HECC and CSA certified mask painter.
